Buda Economic
Development Corporation is teaming up once again
with Marilyn Van Uum, Gracy Title, to bring you
“Buda FAM Tour 2008 – Buda on the Move”. This bus
tour of Buda takes place on Thursday, April 24th
beginning at 9am at the Hays Communities Family YMCA
here in Buda. Tickets are $15 per person. You’ll
also receive a binder with all the tour
properties/project information along with a “goodie”
bag provided by local businesses. Lunch will be
prepared and served by the culinary arts students at
Lehman High School in Kyle. Call Marilyn at
512-312-2611 to get your ticket. Hurry!!! Only a
few seats remain. The “FAM” tour is a great way to
see firsthand what is happening in Buda!
Have you taken a
look at the Buda Sportsplex recently? The four
recreation fields and the four youth softball fields
are complete. We’re waiting on the turf to grow in
before any play begins. The Buda City Parks
Department will be directing all activities at this
park. Please contact City Parks Director Danny
Zincke at 512-312-0084 with any questions. This
park will be a great place for kids to enjoy sports
in a new, safe environment.
Buda EDC
continues to receive inquiries from various
prospects looking to do business here. Recent
prospects include additional restaurants, retail,
industrial and office. We have one real estate
firm interested in buying acreage. If you have any
land between 2-2000 acres for sale, give us a call.
We will connect you with the interested party.
The update from
TXDOT has SH 130 open at US 183 east of Buda later
this month. Wow! Construction continues on SH 45
Southeast as the crew works to connect IH 35 to SH
130 possibly as early as the end of this year.
Once open, the SH 45/SH 130 road system will allow
Buda folks (and all of us in Hays County) to travel
to the airport and other points east and north in
record time. Transportation improvements in our
area are paramount as we continue to see more and
more people making the move on Buda, Kyle and Hays
County.
Saturday, May 3,
2008 is the local election date for Buda. Our
citizens will elect a new Mayor and three new City
Council members. Also on the ballot is a bond
election for Hays CISD. The $87.5 million bond
package will have NO tax impact on our citizens.
All of the needed schools and improvements in this
bond package will be paid for by growth in the
commercial, industrial and residential sectors. I
encourage everyone in the Hays CISD to vote YES on
this bond package.
Don’t forget the
World Famous Buda Wiener Dog Races sponsored by the
Buda Lions Club held in city park Saturday and
Sunday, April 26-27. Over 500 wiener dogs from
around the United States will race to see who makes
it to the “Wiener’s Circle” on Sunday. This is a
great family event. Games, food, crafts, music,
chili and bbq cookoff competitions, bake-off and
auction. Don’t miss this fun event.
Remember, Buda
