Buda Economic Development Corporation Celebrates 25 Years of Building Buda
Independent study finds Buda EDC-supported projects have generated $11.5 billion in economic activity since 2001
BUDA, TEXAS, October 1, 2026 — In 2001, Buda residents voted to invest in their own economic future and created the Buda Economic Development Corporation (Buda EDC) to strengthen Buda’s economy and improve quality of life through strategic investments and partnerships. Twenty-five years later, Buda EDC continues that work. Over the last 25 years, Buda EDC has awarded 351 incentives, supporting more than 225 businesses. Since 2001, Buda EDC has made $72.6 million in investments, including $3.1 million in incentives for small businesses, the shops, restaurants, and service providers that give Buda its character.
Alongside its support for small businesses and first-time entrepreneurs, Buda EDC has helped to support well-known brands, such as Cabela’s, H-E-B, and US Foods. Signature projects include a $36.3 million, 30-year infrastructure incentive for Cabela’s, a $20.1 million redevelopment investment with H-E-B, a $16.3 million investment in Buda Championship Park, and $4.6 million in City infrastructure.

To measure the full impact of that work, Buda EDC commissioned an independent study from The Perryman Group. The study found that major projects with 10 or more employees supported by Buda EDC generate $668.6 million in economic impact and more than 4,450 jobs in the area every year. Looking at all Buda EDC-supported initiatives since 2001, the study estimates a total of $11.5 billion in gross product and 72,900 job-years of employment, including multiplier effects.
Today, Buda EDC is recruiting new employers, investing in downtown, accelerating entrepreneurship, and targeting the industries of the future, including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, dual-use hard tech, and robotics.
“Twenty-five years ago, Buda residents invested in themselves, and every project since has been built on that belief. The numbers in this study are remarkable, but what I’m proudest of is what they stand for: families who found good jobs close to home, small business owners who took a chance on Buda and thrived, and a downtown full of the heart and heritage that makes us unique. And we’re just getting started. If you’re building something, we want you here,” said Jennifer Storm, Chief Executive Officer of the Buda Economic Development Corporation.
To mark this milestone, Buda EDC will host a 25th anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM, honoring the people, projects, and partnerships that have helped shape Buda’s growth. Everyone who has been part of Buda EDC’s story, past or present, is invited to join. That includes board members, staff, City officials, partner organizations, incentive recipients, Buda businesses, and community members.
